Where our grades come from
Every grade on CleanPlate comes straight from official government health-inspection records — never reviews, ratings, or opinions. You see a restaurant’s status exactly as its local health authority reported it, with the date so you always know how current it is.
One honest scale
Different places grade differently — some use letters, some numeric scores, some a simple pass or fail. CleanPlate translates them into a single, comparable scale while preserving the original record. When a source doesn’t issue a grade, we say so and clearly label anything we derive — we never present an invented letter.
Dated, and never altered
Inspection results are shown unmodified, each with the date it was recorded. Every restaurant page names the official authority the record came from, so you can always trace a grade back to its source.
