Privacy policy

CleanPlate is built to need as little of your data as possible. This policy describes exactly what that means — and, importantly, it matches what the site actually does.

What we collect

• No accounts, no personal profiles. CleanPlate has no login and does not ask for your name, email, or payment information.
• Search queries you type are sent to the relevant government data API to return results. They are not tied to your identity.
• Standard server logs. Like most websites, our host may record basic request metadata (such as IP address and user agent) for security and reliability. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Advertising & cookies

CleanPlate is free and supported by ads served through Google AdSense. AdSense and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads. Where consent is required — for example in the EEA, UK, and certain U.S. states — we use Google’s certified consent management to ask your permission before personalized advertising cookies are used.

You can manage or revoke ad personalization anytime through Google’s Ad Center, and control cookies in your browser settings. Google’s use of advertising cookies is described in its advertising policy.

Analytics & performance

To understand which pages are useful and how fast they load, we use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights — privacy-friendly measurement tools that record page views and anonymous performance metrics in aggregate. They do not use cookies, collect personal information, or track you across other websites.

Delivery links

Restaurant pages include optional links to third-party delivery services (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub). These are affiliate links: if you use them, we may earn a commission, and once you leave CleanPlate you are subject to that service’s own privacy policy. We never share personal information with them.

Data sources

Inspection data comes from public government open-data systems and is displayed unmodified. We do not control those systems’ own data practices.

Your choices & contact

Because we don’t maintain personal accounts, there is no personal profile to delete. For any privacy question, email ssage@cleanplateus.com and we aim to respond within 48 hours. This policy is written to align with CCPA and GDPR principles for the limited data described above.
